New Pattern Release: The Whistler Jacket

New Pattern Release: The Whistler Jacket

Posted by Melanie Burns on

Hello Greenstylers! We have another exciting pattern release for y'all! Introducing: The Whistler Jacket.

Get the pattern HERE. You can get the pattern at a 25% discount with code "WhistlerSAL" through April 11th! Also, you can join the Sew Along for the pattern in the Fabric Fairy Facebook group from April 6th to the 11th!

Features:

The Whistler Jacket is a relaxed fit, raglan sleeve, full zip jacket. It has a huge array of options! The amazing seam lines lends itself to some really cool color blocking opportunities. It also comes with a hood or collar neckline finish, banded or elastic sleeve options, and banded and drawstring hem options too! The relaxed fit makes it perfect to use any stable knit with 20% stretch, but my favorite versions of this jacket have been the stretch woven ones! With the drawstring hem and elastic cuffs, the Whistler can be made completely out of stretch woven! I am so excited about all the cute late spring/early summer weight jackets! Another thing that sets this jacket apart is the back zipper. It's great for keeping things like your phone or keys secure while you go out for a crisp morning jog! The princess seam pockets are the perfect size and fit giant smart phone with ease, and the way the full zip is finished with a facing makes this jacket look so professional. The style lines of this jacket are giving me all the North Face and Columbia feels, and I absolutely love it! After every one I made, I just stood back and thought, "Wow, I can't believe I just MADE that!" and I'm sure you will too!

Fabric:

I got a little ahead of myself and already mentioned some of the fabric options, but here's the full rundown of fabric requirements. This jacket calls for any stable knit fabric like double knit, scuba knit, Ponte, stretch woven, or soft-shell. You'll need to make sure your fabric has at least 20% 2 way stretch for the main fabric and the hood lining fabric. You will also need jacket cuff ribbing material or heavy weight 2x2 ribbing for the banded version. Supplex or other strong fabrics with 75% stretch will also work. The pocket works best with light weight fabrics like mesh or lining fabric. As always, make sure you pre-wash your fabric!

The fabric requirements for sizes B-K is 2 1/2 yards of main fabric, 1/2 yard of ribbing or heavy weight stretch fabric, and 1/2 yard of lining fabric for hood and pockets. Sizes L-M need 2 3/4 yards of main fabric, 1/2 yard ribbing or heavy weight stretch fabric, and 1/2 yard of lining fabric for hood and pockets. Other notions needed are a 26" separating zipper for sizes B-J and 28" separating zipper for sizes K-M, fusible woven interfacing, optional grommets and drawstring for hood or drawstring waist options, optional 6" zipper for the back pocket, and optional 1 1/2" wide elastic for the elastic sleeve cuffs.
