A lot to love with this pattern

I’ve not sewn much in years and had never worked with knits but when my favorite running skirt small business closed up shop, I decided I could make my own if I could find a great pattern. Well, I found it in the Rally skirt.
This is the first time I’ve printed a PDF pattern…didn’t even know it was a thing. Watching the You Tube videos was great and gave me confidence in printing the pattern and making the skirt.
I love this pattern because it has 3 lengths, options on how full you want the skirt, and pockets if you like them.
Even though I’m new to stretch knits, I figured I’d give it a go and make a muslin with some black swimwear fabric and see how it went.
It worked out great! The fit was perfect and it looks good on. It’s packed for our trip to Florida. I’m excited to make more when we get back. I’ll be trying out the Pace skirt pattern too.
Mine is size I with the 4” added in length.

    what a gem

after trying unsuccessfully three rimes with the free arbor skirt pattern by Mood, , I came across the Rally skirt.. What a gem, the pattern fit well right out of the gate, with no adjustments, which hardly ever happens.. I love the little bike shorts under the skirt with great pockets for balls and phone. This pattern is such a win, I made two already. I did the half circle skirt in the second length.

    Rally skirt review

Easy pattern, great sizing. Greenstyle patterns are always easy to put together and well drafted.

    My dream skirt!

I’ve had such a hard time finding a pattern of this type of skirt. Now that I’ve found it, I’m obsessed! It was super easy to sew and I’ve made two now.

Great pattern and pretty easy to sew! Love the fit. I sewed up the full skirt option. The sew along was very helpful.

Missing information: Seam allowance and finished measurements

The skirt looks nice but I feel like the finish here is lacking. There should be some information on final measurements and also on the different lengths and also if a seam allowance is included. Quite disappointing.

The seam allowance is included and it is stated so in the instructions.

4.75/5! This pattern is ALMOST perfect! I have already made 4 of them in different lengths with different fabrics and this is SUCH an amazing pattern. My only small issue is that I wish the gusset was larger. Once it’s sewn in and seam allowance is taken, it becomes a tiny triangle that doesn’t do quite what I needed but I figure I can adjust it to be larger with some math and pattern adjustments. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic pattern and can be sewn completely without a serger/coverstitch if needed!

A couple tips I like: top stitch the pockets and side panel seams, add a silicone band to the inside of the leg hem for those of us with thick upper thighs and a desire for short booty shorts, and reinforce the crotch seams for those of us who like a snug supportive fit. Love it though!

    Unexpectedly amazing!

I find that a lot of indie patterns are usually hit or miss and require at least one adjustment if not many adjustments. This pattern did not require any adjustments to be successful on the first try! Super simple, drafted really really well, and a new favorite. I absolutely love it and I have already made two! With a third cut out and on my table. Really great pattern!!

An easy sew - and so cute!

I made a pickleball skirt for my daughter. Instruction s were clear and it came together in a couple of hours.

    It worked!

Of course it did but I hadn’t made anything like this before. The sizing for me seemed like a slam dunk but actually required a little toggling. Normal. But the measurements stated were way closer to mine than in other patterns. I made the 3/4 circle skirt and I love it. I used bathing suit supplies from the closet but will do it again in a performance fabric. Also, the directions are great.

    Great skirt!

I made shorter versions with the shorts and liked them, but my favorite version is one I lengthened to midi-length and made in a swim knit. (No shorts needed.) It is so comfortable and swishy. Perfect for summer!

    Great little skirt!

Although I printed it NOT as an image the first time, I was easily able to join the “flat” lines into the proper curves. I love that you can print just one layer (size) at a time if you want but also really appreciate that all the sizes are there if and when I want them. Customer support was wonderful when I had a couple of questions. I received promp replies and the replies were clear and concise.

    Love love love this skirt

It's great for PickleBall. It drapes very nicely and I love the built-in shorts. I'll be making more of these.

    Perfect for playing table tennis!

I love this pattern! I needed some skorts (a skort?) for playing table tennis in a competition and the Rally Skirt is absolutely perfect! I only purchased the pattern a week ago and have already made two, with a third cut out and ready to sew up!

They are quick and easy to make, the pockets in the shorts are great for holding a tissue and a table tennis ball, they are super comfy to wear, and I will soon have a whole collection of completely unique skorts! I've made one with the outer waistband and skirt in black stretch lace and my next one will be even fancier - black stretch burnout velvet with bright pink flowers!

It's nice to have the option of different skirt styles - I've tried the half and three-quarter skirts so far and they both look great. The pattern is really well drafted and the sizing is spot on, although do bear in mind that if the fabric you are using has more or less stretch than the recommended stretch percentage you may have to size up or down accordingly.

I'll probably make some of these for summer in the longer skirt length for casual wear too.

All in all, a super pattern!

I even got married in it!

I love this skirt. I've made several. The longest length plus 12 cm was the bottom half of my wedding dress. Top half was the Bali Top.

Cute design, pattern lacking some basic information

Very cute skort but the lack of finished measurements means I will probably make one from another company first, so I have some point of reference for this one, should I decide to even use it

    Rally skirt first trial make

I made a test version for my granddaughter. The waist is a tad tight so I am making her the final version out of fabric she likes and increasing waist size. I have figured out not to stretch them clear elastic too snug , just use it for more stability not the stretch factor. I actually think she’s going to love the final version or I hope she does.

Resisted it but so glad I caved in

When the Rally skirt was first released I resisted buying it, thinking that it was too simple and I could figure it out without a pattern. I am so glad I changed my mind. I made my first 2 in an evening and have had so many compliments. It sews us super easy but I really didn't want to do the maths to calculate the skirt dimensions. I wear mine for golf. I made the std length plus 3 inches. I am only 5'2" but like my skirts only a bit above my knee. Have made a 3rd one too and have a 4th cut and ready to go

    Simple and lovely

Just what I wanted! I had been admiring skirts like this from a RTW athletic clothing company but just couldn't get around the price tag they were asking. Was super excited when I found this pattern! It was super simple and straight forward. First time trying to make a gusset too and even that turned out well. Definitely recommend!

    Disappointed

Pretty disappointed with this pattern. There's only one line drawing with no comparison of different lengths tights or skirts. No finished measurement chart so you basically have to print off the pattern and then gauge it against your body which is difficult when you're buying fabric specifically for a pattern and need to know fabric requirements. If you're in the FB group you can search for testers versions and see if they mention the length they made against their height but all the information you need should be in the pattern.
